Senior Interoperability Solutions Architect, Roche Diagnostic Information Solutions- (February, 2019 to Present)

• Subject matter expert on each of: FHIR, CDA, HL7, and medical terminology sets including SNOMED-CT, ICD-10cm, and CPT4.

Senior product manager on efforts to bring FHIR compatibility to Advisory Board infrastructure.

Director of Interoperability - The Advisory Board Company - (May, 2013 to June, 2016)

Subject matter expert on interoperability standards including Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR), Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C-CDA), HL7, ICD9/ICD10 coding systems. Currently Population Health Analytics Pipeline Product Manager for Data Hub. Establish integration with various EHR systems for the purpose of quality reporting, care management and referrals support. Senior Business Consultant - Aquilent, Inc. (October, 2011 to March, 2013)

Collaborated with VHA stakeholders to facilitate specification and implementation of Health Risk Assessment (see below) content customizations. Wrote requirements and use case specification documents, and generated information required by different government organizations to see project through. Specialized in establishing methodologies to guide clients, partners, and project team through process of articulating what needs to be delivered. Developed and provided training to project personnel and clients, and ran effective meetings.

Aquilent was awarded a contract to help the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and Veterans Health Administration (VHA), within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), to enable electronic health risk assessments (HRAs). Aquilent selected the use of the Expert-24 commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) HRA which will allow VA to easily customize the HRA to their patient population and clinical guidelines.


Senior Health Informatics Analyst - CodeRyte, Inc. (December, 2004 to October, 2011)

Analyst facilitating connectivity, profiling and discovery of data in the process of implementing medical natural language processing (NLP) systems. Build information profiling and analysis tools for HL7 message visualization. Provide training for both clients and employees. Conduct quality assurance and write documentation. Troubleshoot complex legacy data connections and workflow. Facilitate information exchange between client services, engineering and NLP departments. Clients include physician groups, large university hospitals and billing companies.

Previously implementation project manager for new implementations. Facilitate requirements specification, design, documention, development, testing and implemenation of bioinformatics projects. Identify and troubleshoot system issues and guide implementation team through resolution.


Senior Product Manager - Conceptual Health Solutions (March, 2003 to December, 2004)

Serving Conceptual Health Solutions (CHS) - a bioinformatics startup - as implementation manager & documentation master. Facilitate and document pilot bioinformatics project for Veteran's Hospital - Nashville, Tennessee, and Johns Hopkins Internal Medicine Department - Baltimore, Maryland. Application is a medical concept indexing and knowledge management system developed at Mayo Clinic. Also establish methodologies for logical rule and application development. Responsible for:

     •  Writing program specifications and documentation
     •  Conducting program testing and feedback
     •  Project management and communication between different organizational entities
     •  Transforming data into information for analysis of technical efficacy of multi-layered technology

Technology is a combination of natural language processing and a rules engine. Applications include automated billing-code generation (Evaluation & Management, ICD9, and CPT) and quality measurement of clinical exam notes.

Training and Knowledge Manager - Intellicorp, Inc. (April, 2001 to August, 2002)

Establish program rollout and user communication process for large Payroll & HR company (ADP) implementing an Opportunity Management System. Provide inventory of existing training materials; structure user competency program requirements; and generate supporting user information material. Transfer training program to client for further development and delivery by client staff.

Establish configurator business requirements for a large agricultural equipment company preparing for a Siebel Version 7 configuration project. Advise and document configurator interface requirements; establish configuration prototypes; attend Siebel V7 training in San Mateo, CA; Advise on best practices and methodology for establishing and maintaining configuration technology.

Manage user training requirements and delivery. Establish effective knowledge management practices. Support Customer Relationship Management (CRM) consulting practice as Siebel consultant and experienced CRM/technical architect.


Technology Training Development & Delivery Manager - Deloitte Consulting (April, 2000 to April, 2001)

Selected and managed training vendor(s). Liaise with different practice groups to determine training requirements. A startup scheduling-software company. Responsible for full cycle of product sales, marketing, design, implementation, training, troubleshooting and support. Developed and delivered training programs to clients. Maintained client relations and conducted project management. Co-Founder and member of management team. Programmed in Smalltalk, an Object-Oriented Programming Language. Applications included:

Project Leader & Software Engineer - Machine Vision International (December, 1986 to February, 1988)
Establish Circuit Board Inspection System for Rockwell International - a complicated system easily run by an operator without previous computer experience. System developed using three different languages, and provided extensive on-site engineering & customer support. Personally responsible for hardware & software integration including cycle of system design, component acquisition, programming, testing, and integration.

Manager of Special Projects - Michigan Peer Review Organization (March, 1985 to December, 1986)

Developed and supported microcomputer-based data systems. Systems included:

Research Assistant II - University of Michigan Children's Hospital - Neonatal I.C.U. (June, 1984 to March, 1985)

Provided support for personal computer and mainframe based data systems. Established state of the art data system for tracking neonatal patients that lasted more than 10 years. Facilitated data management for research studies - including user-friendly front end that allowed a physician to manage his own data. Supported data management and analysis on transported neonates that culminated in a published study on quality assurance.

Facilitated strategy and tactics to save community-owned housing from being foreclosed due to past debt. Selected and managed new management company for improving day to day management of cooperative. Worked with community leaders to identify available health resources.


Laboratory Technologist - Mott Children's Hospital - Pulmonary Lab (January, 1983 to June, 1984, and part time in College)

Extensive use of database management systems on University of Michigan's mainframe (MTS); Preparing data for research study; Pulmonary laboratory technologist responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting multiple technologies including blood gas analysis, pulmonary function, sweat sodium and pneumocardiogram analysis machines..

Laboratory Data Clerk - Pathology Department, University of Michigan Hospitals (May, 1979 to December, 1980)

Responsible for logging in laboratory samples to a computer system, and distributing samples to appropriate pathology laboratories. Significant phone and computer work communicating latest results to physicians throughout hospitals. Also got a chance to leverage the speedy touch-typing that I learned in Ms. Shimmel's 10th grade typing class.
